What is a boudoir session?
The word boudoir is a french term meaning a woman's dressing room, bedroom, or private sitting room.
The 1920s entered as one of the first times boudoir art and photography really moved to the forefront. During this decade, it was illegal to have nudity in photographs, but photographers continued to create masterpieces despite these restrictions. In the 1940's, boudoir photography shifted more towards the pin-up style. These ladies in this decade were often curvy, wore stockings, men's ties and corsets. They unabashedly celebrated being women. In the 1970's, boudoir photography took a huge turn where it became more professional and for the first time, magazines would show photos of women instead of just drawings.
Today, boudoir photography has morphed into a creative space for all genders to express themselves through intimate photographs. All of the rules are broken from the past where you had to fit into certain molds to be in front of the camera. Today, we embrace every curve, every stretch mark and what was once a flaw is now beautifully celebrated.
These sessions offer a one-of-a kind gift for your significant other or yourself.
Brides often use boudoir sessions as an opportunity to gift their future spouse with a sexy surprise before or after the wedding. It's a time to celebrate new love and the joy of what that journey brings.
Women (and men) also use these sessions as a way to find a newfound love for themselves. Often we are crushed by societies standards of what beauty is supposed to be. Together, we are claiming what beauty means to us. Individually, it can mean one thing for you and something different for the next person.
This is exactly why boudoir sessions are popular today. Self love is sexy. Confidence is powerful.
Boudoir sessions are all about you.
It's a time for you to embrace every inch of you and why you're so incredible.
Some clients choose to wear lingerie or a simple white button up shirt. Some wear heels and some go barefoot. The best part is that there is no wrong or right way to do it. Your job is to show up with your fierce self and let the photographer take care of the rest.
When you join me for your boudoir experience, I make it my top priority to make sure you feel comfortable and at ease. It won't happen right away and that's okay. It definitely takes some time to get used to having a camera in your face. We put on your favorite music and let the energy flow. I promise that within the first 15 minutes, you will feel like empowered and ready to explore what makes you so uniquely you.
For your two hour session, I gently guide you in poses that accentuate every part of your body. I never limit the amount of outfit changes or poses and make sure you feel like an all star.
I want you to truly fall in love with yourself. I'm making it a goal to open a studio dedicated to these sessions (and more!) in 2022!
If you are interested in more details or booking a session, contact me today! If you have questions (which is totally normal!) you can email me or we can set up a phone consultation to chat! I'm always here for you.
